For whatever reason the game just never captured my imagination, and as this was back when I was still in school and didn’t have a job, I decided not to pester my parents for it and save that pestering power for other games I liked the look of. However, despite my love for the first two games in the series, I never really took the time to play Donkey Kong Country 3: Dixie Kong’s Double Trouble! back in the day. The Bonus Coins perform the function of the Kremkoins from Diddy's Kong Quest, but this time the DK Coins have a different function: collect them all to be able to unlock a new vehicle in Funky's boat rental.I’ve gone into detail in the past here on Gaming Respawn for my love of the first two Donkey Kong Country games, with Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy’s Kong Quest still currently holding the mantle of being my favourite video game ever. Scattered throughout the levels are "Bear Coins", which perform the same functions as the Banana Coins from the previous game. However, unlike Donkey Kong Country, Dixie Kong's Double Trouble! presents game scenarios more based on those of the regions of northern Europe, including the presence of bears that are actually brothers. Unlike the previous game, which had a pirate theme, this one features a theme that mixes science fiction with the gameplay of the first game in the series. The game was made available for download on the Virtual Console service for the Wii in 2007 and the Wii U in 2014.
It was also re-released as a remake for the Game Boy Advance (GBA) in 2005. It is the third title in the Donkey Kong Country series and serves as a direct sequel to Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest. Donkey Kong Country 3: Dixie Kong's Double Trouble! is a platform video game developed by Rare and published by Nintendo for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System in 1996.
